Life Before Alzheimer’s San Diego
Braulio grew up in Oxnard, California, about an hour up the coast from Los Angeles, and first came down to San Diego in 2017 to attend San Diego State University. After graduating with his BS in Business Administration / Marketing in 2021 while being back in Oxnard due to the COVID pandemic, he returned to San Diego in 2022 when he joined our team. He adds, “I wanted to work at a place where the work mattered and was in support of a good cause.”
Marketing for the Organization
Although this role is Braulio’s first full time marketing position, he previously had internships at multiple marketing agencies in San Diego. He notes that “these experiences helped [him] learn about how various industries differ in their messaging, which in turn helps in figuring out the best way to communicate with our community.”
His main responsibilities include maintaining our website updated with upcoming programs and events, creating our English and Spanish email newsletters, running our social media accounts, and putting together the blogs you see on a weekly basis. He also coordinates with other departments about the upcoming news and programs the community should know about. Braulio says that the best part about his role is seeing people use all the services we offer and getting the free support they weren’t aware of before. He’s also proud of the increasing number of Spanish services we offer like the new in-person Spanish support group.
Braulio’s Perspective
“Our team has genuine relationships with families and others in the community that was evident from the beginning.” Braulio notes that it’s easy to work somewhere that is respected and people go to for daily help. He enjoys seeing families together at Walk4ALZ and hearing how much the community means to them. He encourages people to call us and find out about the wide variety of programs people living with dementia, caregivers, and many others can benefit from.
