Suzette French

Suzette French joined Alzheimer’s San Diego in 2018, overseeing the Business Office — handling all things related to finances, HR, and operations. Suzette was passionate about the mission of Alzheimer’s San Diego, and loved working at a place where the impact to so many people’s day-to-day life was so tangible.

“Suzette was always incredibly pleasant and warm, but with the respectful assertiveness that I imagine served her and your team very well.”

Suzette was a true firecracker; she was quick to laugh, passionate in her beliefs, and cared fiercely for her friends and family. Suzette never shied away from speaking her mind, and often spoke up for those who didn’t feel they had a voice themselves. Her sense of right and wrong was strong and she didn’t ever hold back from pointing out when something didn’t align with those values.

“She was an incredible person, and I feel fortunate to have known her.”

Suzette passed away in October 2023 after an ongoing battle with breast cancer. We are all devastated by the loss of our friend and coworker.

“Not only was Suzette a dedicated [Alzheimer’s San Diego] employee, she was a compassionate, kind person. She will be missed by many.”

During the Walk4ALZ, the Alzheimer’s San Diego family came together to celebrate Suzette, wearing pink ribbons in her honor. Suzette loved Walk4ALZ, so it was a small way for us to honor her.

“…that smile…. that energy… that strength and grace will never be forgotten. As long as we all think on her and our souls swell at her thought, then she is still a part of us and our lives. Please extend to all at [Alzheimer’s San Diego] my deep sense of loss and my sorrow. I know how close you all are. Suzette kept giving at the office because each of you were able to give her strength and love and support as she battled cancer yet again. She lived fully to the last and GAVE of herself fully to the last.”

We miss her already, and wish her family peace and love as they navigate this loss.
