Thank you to everyone who came out to Rides4ALZ 2023 and supported the organization on a beautiful Saturday in San Diego! Riders, passengers, after party goes, volunteers, sponsors, staff, and everyone else involved put on an incredible event and we hope you enjoyed it as much as we did. We tallied around 350 participants and raised over $170,000 for the organization, which all stays in San Diego County and goes towards helping people living with dementia, care partners, and all families affected in our communities.
Kickstands Up
Rides4ALZ started bright and early with riders showing up at our starting point, Harley Davidson, starting at around 7am. Everyone was chatting with new and familiar faces while picking up their t-shirts, pins, and bandanas. With all the teams gathered and the excitement increasing, the riders rolled out onto the road and kicked off the event in style.
Views from the ride
Our route traversed through the canyons and valleys all the way past Alpine, and turned around at Horsethief Canyon Trailhead. Our pit stop halfway through the ride was at Pio Pico RV Park in Jamul, where riders enjoyed drinks and took a break before hitting the coast. We passed through the Coronado Bridge and snapped some pictures by Hotel Del Coronado. After that riders could take two different finishes to the after party, one of which led them up Mission Bay.
After party
The tacos and beer were flowing at AleSmith Brewery, where riders finished their trek and were greeted by friends and staff. After everyone ate and relaxed for a while, we began announcing the raffle prizes winners, as well as acknowledging our sponsors and the top fundraising team, which was San Diego Harley-Davidson Owners (HOG) with a total of $2,640 raised! You can still buy our custom Ride Out beer made by AleSmith, from which we get a portion of the proceeds.
Our next fundraising event is our biggest one of the year, Walk4ALZ 2023. It’s held at Balboa Park on October 21st, and you can register now for free and start your fundraising team! More photos are below, and check our Facebook for the full Rides4ALZ photo album.
