Rides4ALZ 2024 Recap + Photos

Summer was in full effect on June 29th for the 8th annual Rides4ALZ! Thanks to all the riders, passengers, after party attendees, sponsors, volunteers, and more who made the event a grand success. With 330 participants and over $175,000 raised, Rides4ALZ once again made a big impact in the San Diego dementia community, with all the money staying local to help people living with dementia, care partners, and all families affected in our county. Our Rides4ALZ 2024 recap takes a look at each part of the event and the people who came along for the ride!

Kickstands Up

The morning got started early with riders checking in at San Diego Harley-Davidson at around 7am. Riders caught up with each other while enjoying coffee and muffins provided by our friends at Home Instead. Everyone also picked up their fundraising incentives – t-shirts, lapel pins, patches, bandanas, and water pouches. Following all this, the 2024 top team, San Diego Harley-Davidson Owners (HOGs), led the first group out onto the 114-mile ride around the county.

Views from the Ride

Riders started out by coasting through the San Clemente Canyon, Mission Trails Regional Park, Blossom Valley, and turned back west when the route hit Horsethief Canyon Trailhead. As they rode through the southeastern San Diego mountains they hit the Pio Pico RV Park in Jamul for the Pit Stop, where Meruelo Enterprises provided drinks and snacks at the halfway point of the ride. After that, riders glided alongside Lower Otay Lake and then through southern San Diego until they hit the beach, went up the coast, over the Coronado Bridge and then headed north to the after party.

After Party

AleSmith Brewery was once again a wonderful host for the after party, with AM Ortega serving as our party sponsor. People slowly rolled in and enjoyed great food from Rudy’s Tacos and beer while hanging out with fellow riders. After the lucky raffle winners were announced, we presented the top team for now three years running, San Diego Harley-Davidson Owners (HOGs), with their trophy after raising a total of $6,680 this year!

Our next fundraising event is our biggest one of the year, Walk4ALZ 2024. It will be held at Balboa Park on October 19th, and you can register now for free and start your fundraising team! More photos are below, and check our Facebook for the full Rides4ALZ 2024 photo album.
