Meet Sally Lantz Cobian, our Social Activities Coordinator!

Life Before Alzheimer’s San Diego

After having a grandmother live with dementia and seeing that there were very little resources for support, Sally Lantz Cobian says, “I wanted to contribute my time to help where I could and at the same time, learn as much as I could.” This is why she begin volunteering with the organization in 2018, and then became our Social Activities Coordinator in 2024. She grew up in Indiana, and has since lived in Chicago, Tucson, Charleston (SC), Pittsburgh, Philadelphia, and Long Island. She adds, “Like many, I visited San Diego and fell in love with this area instantly. My favorite part about the city is being able to have so many outdoor experiences all year round.”

With her Associate’s in Nursing, Bachelor’s in Developmental Psychology and Master’s in Public Health, Sally says her education helps her understand the variety of needs that are required when working with people of all backgrounds and life experiences.

Social Activities & Outings

In her past, Sally has worked as a nurse (pediatric, labor and delivery), a training and development specialist, and in restaurant management. She mentions these experiences have helped her tremendously as she works with clients in social settings. In her current role, she coordinates social activities for people living with memory loss and their caregiver or companion, communicates with volunteers for our ALZ Companions program, and also spends time supporting our Clinical Services team.

Sally’s Perspective

Considering her own life experiences with dementia, Sally loves “seeing families connect through our social activities with laughter and smiles.” She’s seen how grateful people are for the services that are available and is proud of how passionate the team is about serving the San Diego community. “You never have to feel alone through this battle. We are here for you!”
