Take Charge: Program Details

Each of the weekly Take Charge Zoom meetings will be hosted by Alzheimer’s San Diego, and secure links for each session will be emailed out to all attendees in advance. You do not need to have a paid Zoom account to participate, but for each session you will need:

  • Adobe Acrobat Reader, or another free PDF reader for viewing educational materials. Note that web browsers like Google Chrome, Firefox, and Safari all have integrated PDF readers.
  • An integrated camera or webcam, so that your video(s) will be viewable to the Take Charge facilitators and other participants. Participation in the weekly Zoom meetings from a computer with a full screen or monitor is recommended.
  • A working microphone and audio, so that your voice(s) will be audible, and so that you can clearly hear the presenters, other participants, and videos.
  • A hard copy of the Take Charge workbook will be mailed out to you in advance of the series start. A digital version of the workbook is available for download as well.

The materials for each session and a short “homework” assignment for each week are posted on the weekly pages. These pre-session assignments may be the completion of a questionnaire, watching a brief recorded lecture, or completing a worksheet. We ask that you come to each session having completed this pre-work, to get the most out of our time together. Please have your copy of the Take Charge workbook with you at each meeting.

Each of the five 75-minute Zoom meetings will include a brief lecture-style educational presentation, with interactive activities and group discussions. We welcome the sharing of personal experiences, and ask that participants respect each other’s perspectives, privacy, and confidentiality.

The staff facilitators of this series are Jean Alton and Alisa Isumi. We can be reached Monday through Friday (8:30 AM to 5 PM) via email at education@alzsd.org, or by phone at 858.492.4400.
