Walk4ALZ 2023 Recap
Walk4ALZ 2023 kicked off on a sunny Saturday morning in Balboa Park, with our CEO Eugenia Welch, FOX 5’s Kathleen Bade, and Marc Lieberman taking turns speaking to the crowd about the organization and their personal connections to dementia. As everyone counted down until the clock struck 8 AM, the Walk4ALZ Mascot Eleven led the charge into the park! Only a few minutes into the route, walkers were greeted by a mariachi band serenading them and filling everyone with excitement for the start of the event. There were also volunteers all along the 2.75 mile path who provided water and plenty of motivation. The event was a grand success, as we were able to raise over $475,000 and counting! The total amount exceeded our original goal for the event, and we’re grateful to everyone who contributed. Many people not only donated and walked, but also fundraised large amounts for their Walk teams!
